23 This point is made clear by Milner-Gullard (1990:167) who suggests that âliterature has always been open to cross-fertilisation and co-operation with the other arts: the remarkable development of Russian Opera for the early nineteenth century, to take one example, is neither âliterature ledâ nor âmusic ledâ but a real partnership of music, text and spectacle. In the context of indigenous unofficial Soviet rock music, there is a clear juxtaposition between âliteratureâ, dissident poetry and the âmusicâ.
